Doppler

Doppler is a centralized secrets management platform designed to be the single source of truth for environment variables and sensitive configuration across projects, teams, and infrastructure. It organizes secrets using a hierarchical model—projects at the root with environments and configs—to make it easy to group and inherit values. Developers get personal configs and can create branch configs that inherit from root environments, enabling safe tuning for deployments. Doppler provides real-time synchronization so changes propagate instantly across teams and infrastructure, reducing configuration drift and outages. The product includes a developer-focused secrets editor that supports multiple formats (dotenv, YAML, JSON), multi-line secrets, versioning and recovery, and notes for team communication. Additional capabilities include change requests for proposing updates without write access, missing-secret detection and reminders for rotation, secret generation for cryptographic keys, masking to control visibility, and secure sharing via expiring end-to-end encrypted links. Doppler emphasizes automation (config inheritance, scheduled reminders) and operational safety (automatic version capture and revert) to improve developer experience and reduce secret-related outages.
